In recent months Project Cauã has advanced considerably in achieving the ideals of sustainability, social and digital inclusion in Brazil and Latin America. As a first step a business model and service-based technology solution for Digital Inclusion and Home Entertainment is being created to achieve these goals. This solution includes a home computer capable of storing images, documents, videos, music and games, which will be installed and maintained by System Administrators accredited by Project Cauã regionally.
At FISL 14, the largest Free Software event in Brazil, the Project Cauã team is doing a technology demonstration and launch of Project Cauã. The team is demonstrating a thin client made from a Raspberry Pi computer. This technology is based on xbmc, a Free Software project for home theater, running on top of the Debian distribution of GNU/Linux. It will supply a full GNU/Linux system to the user, plus a media center, plus the ability to access "cloud-based" services such as gmail and Google.
Project Cauã is a Free and Open Source Software and Hardware (FOSSH) project conceived to make it possible for people to make a living as a Systems Administrator/Entrepreneur using FOSSH as the basis.
